University of Minnesota Duluth senior Alexandera Houchin credits a sense of community with getting her through the long days and sometimes-grueling weather conditions of the Tour Divide, a 2,745-mile mountain bike race that follows dirt roads and jeep trails like Colorado Forest Road 665 (pictured here) along the Continental Divide. “You feel so alone, but then you see another rider and you think, ‘They’re out here doing the same crazy, extraordinary thing I am,’” says Houchin, the first woman to cross the finish line in both the 2018 and 2019 races.
