As the coronavirus began its march through the United States, life on the University of Minnesota’s campuses shifted. Classes and work moved online. Libraries and museums closed. Sports seasons were cut short and events canceled. Campus stood still for all but a few—health care workers, who went into overdrive preparing for the unknown, and students facing hardship and not knowing where to turn. The University community came together to help those most in need, giving nearly $200,000 to two new emergency funds for students and health care workers in just the first month.
