Minneapolis caught the world’s attention on May 25, the day George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer. During his memorial service in Minneapolis, universities were called upon to create a scholarship in his name. U of M President Joan Gabel responded by establishing the University of Minnesota Scholarship in Honor of George Floyd. The systemwide scholarship will support undergraduate students from underrepresented communities at the U or whose studies focus on racial and social justice.
