Already, great strides

When the U launched the public phase of Driven: The University of Minnesota Campaign on a sunny September morning last year, it represented the University’s first campaign in almost 20 years, with a goal of raising $4 billion by 2020. 

Since then—thanks to dedicated donors, campaign ambassadors, and friends of the University—the U is well on the way to reaching its ambitious goal. “Together we are on a path to explore new possibilities, fuel our economy, and shape our world,” says U of M President Eric Kaler.

Who made it happen

214,564 campaign donors—enough to fill TCF Bank Stadium four times

98,985 new U of M donors—if standing next to each other, they would stretch across the Twin Cities, from Wayzata to Woodbury

donors of $25 million or more—they have contributed more than 15 percent of our progress so far

What we've done so far

Created 

  • 914 new undergraduate scholarships
  • 475 new graduate and professional scholarships and fellowships
  • 50 new endowed professorships and faculty chairs

Enabled faster emergency response and transport to treatment centers, as well as mobile delivery of lifesaving therapies, to cardiac arrest patients

Restored a historic pipe organ at Northrop for the benefit of future concertgoers

Provided University researchers with a state-of-the-art robotics lab and a new space to enable discoveries in physics, astronomy, and earth sciences

Enhanced scholarship and research opportunities for Native American students

Supported U.S. veterans who wish to pursue graduate and undergraduate degrees
