Invisible need
More than 43 million Americans are affected by mental illnesses. Many of them suffer in silence. “Mental health is invisible. Only when something goes tragically wrong does the patient get attention,” says K.K. Sinha, the U of M Carlson School of Management’s Mosaic Company-Jim Prokopanko Professor of Corporate Responsibility.
Sinha studies mental health care supply chain design. He is exploring whether emerging mobile apps can help more people manage their conditions and reduce disparities in care delivery and whether precision medicine guidelines for prescribing psychiatric drugs can reduce adverse events.
