Vet's black bag

As they pass the Minnesota Veterinary Historical Museum’s display near the entrance to the U’s Small Animal Hospital in St. Paul, vet students can get an idea of how their profession was practiced as far back as the 1870s. A group of veterinarians created the museum in 1985 after several false starts (artifacts were accidentally discarded during remodeling projects). Gifts from donors provide for a half-time curator and maintenance of the collection of more than 5,000  photographs, surgical instruments, and other items.
